The Social Studio
A social studio for small businesses learning to speak.
Guinness Atticus is a small-business social studio — a collection of digital materials, workbooks and a members' circle for founders who would rather post less, and mean more.
A quiet study for loud markets. For small businesses with something worth saying. For founders who would rather post less and mean more. Social media taught slowly, learned properly.
Why Detroit
Why Detroit businesses choose Guinness Atticus.
Detroit is not a generic market and we do not treat it like one. Three things make our practice a fit for the businesses and institutions that hire us here.
Local market knowledge.
Detroit is a market of mid-sized B2B firms, independent consumer brands, and mission-driven nonprofits that are doing real work without a staffed digital department. We plan from inside that landscape, not from a national template.
Community-first approach.
Detroit content earns attention by respecting the room — neighborhood, industry, history. We read the local audience before we write for them, and we hand you a vocabulary you actually keep.
Detroit business network.
Our client roster and referrals come from the Detroit business community itself. Work travels through working relationships — real conversations, not cold outreach.
THE APPROACH
We teach as we consult.
Social media is a marketing channel — not a personality test, not a moonlit career path, not a thing your intern handles because nobody else wants to.
A Detroit social media consulting firm founded and run by Graves De Armond. We help organizations manage, educate, enable, and enhance their digital capability — without asking them to become technologists themselves.
Our work pairs hands-on consulting with structured education. By the end of an engagement your team has a vocabulary, a workflow, and the muscle to keep going — instead of an evergreen retainer you can't get out of.
Every engagement moves through some combination of four verbs. Most combine at least three.
Manage — Operate the channels day-to-day when your team can't, until it can. Strategy, content, community management, paid amplification — picked to fit the gap, run on a 90-day first cycle, then re-examined together.
Educate — Public courses and internal training — built around the workflows you actually run. Vocabulary + workflow your staff keeps. A structured curriculum adapted to your stack. A handoff document, not an evergreen retainer.
Enable — Hand your team the tools, the playbook, and the muscle to keep going after we leave. Editorial calendars, content templates, response playbooks, dashboards built for decisions. Ownership transfers on a documented timeline.
Enhance — Analytics, reporting, and a continuous read on what is working and what is not. Dashboards tied to revenue, retention, or program outcomes — not vanity metrics. Monthly readouts and quarterly strategy reviews.
Services
Six lines of work, one practice. Most engagements combine at least three. Pick what is missing.
01 Strategy & optimization
Social media strategy grounded in the business you actually run — not a vanity-metric funnel. Channel mix, content pillars, posting cadence, paid amplification.
02 Content development
Editorial calendars, copywriting, short-form video briefs, and creative direction that respects your team's voice instead of smothering it.
03 Community management
Daily moderation, comment hygiene, DM triage, and a real human reading the room. We surface what the audience is actually saying back to you.
04 Reputation & influencer outreach
Defensive monitoring, response playbooks for hard moments, and influencer outreach briefed so it reads native to the channel — not like a press release.
05 Analytics & reporting
Dashboards built around decisions, not dashboards built to look impressive. Monthly readouts tied to revenue, retention, or program outcomes.
06 Live courses & internal training
A standing slate of public courses plus team-level training sessions. We hand your team a vocabulary and a workflow, not a dependency on us.
AUDIENCES
Three doors, one workshop.
A — For B2B
Sales-cycle social that meets the buyer where they research, not where marketing usually posts.
B — For B2C
Brand-building, community-building, and retention work — the full loop, not just the launch.
C — For Nonprofit
Awareness, donor cultivation, and program storytelling calibrated to a mission and a budget.
Small business owners, nonprofits, and professional teams that need a digital presence without having to staff a digital department. We make the channels measurable, manageable, and — eventually — routine.
THE PROCESS
How an engagement actually runs.
STEP 01 — Listening
Audit the current channels, read the conversations happening around you, set a baseline.
STEP 02 — Framing
A short strategy document — not a 60-page deck — that everyone on your team can actually use.
STEP 03 — Operating
Calendars, content, community management, paid. Run for 90 days before we re-examine.
STEP 04 — Reporting
Monthly metrics + quarterly strategy reviews. Numbers, then the story the numbers tell.
Engagements typically run a 90-day first cycle, then quarterly. We'd rather hand you the keys than hold them forever.
THE FOUNDER
Graves De Armond — Principal, Guinness Atticus Media. Based in Detroit, MI. Founder & sole principal. Serves B2B, B2C, and nonprofit clients.
One practitioner, one roster of clients, all the work directed end-to-end.
Graves De Armond built Guinness Atticus Media in Detroit as the kind of firm he couldn't find as a client: a social media practice that teaches the work as it does it, and that eventually puts the channels back in the client's hands. The firm is small on purpose — every engagement is read, planned, and run by the same set of eyes.
Detroit roots — why here, why now.
Detroit doesn't need louder social media. It needs a social media practice that knows the room.
The Detroit market is full of organizations doing serious work — manufacturers rebuilding a category, mission-driven nonprofits running on small budgets, consumer brands rooted in the Midwest — that need a digital presence they can run on their own terms. They don't need a 60-page deck or a retainer that grows every quarter. They need a short read, a plan that fits the gap, and the education to carry it.
The firm is Detroit-based and Detroit-rooted, but most of the work runs remote. Clients span the Midwest and beyond; the in-person work is reserved for kickoffs, training sessions, and the moments that benefit from being in the room.
Our promise — what we will and won't promise.
We will: Build a vocabulary your team keeps. Hand over a workflow your team can run. Document the playbook and the playbook's edge cases. Tie dashboards to decisions your team actually makes. Design an exit that feels like a graduation, not an abandonment.
We won't: Promise that metrics will grow if the metrics don't matter to your business. Ask your team to become technologists to keep up. Hide the playbook behind our subscriptions. Leave you on a retainer you can't exit. Sell you a 60-page deck that nobody on your team can use.

Consulting FAQ
What the work looks like in practice, who the practice serves, how a 90-day first cycle runs end-to-end, what the three engagement shapes cost, and which channels are in or out of scope. Honest, not rehearsed — and published up front so a Detroit team can decide whether the fit is right before sending the intake form.
What does social media consulting with Guinness Atticus Media actually look like?
The work runs on four verbs and ends on a handoff. Manage, Educate, Enable, and Enhance frame every engagement — and the endpoint is always a documented handover, not a retainer you cannot get out of. If your team cannot run the playbook without us after handoff, the work has not earned its keep. In practice that looks like a short intake, a written first move, a 90-day first cycle with monthly readouts tied to revenue, retention, or program outcomes, and a handoff document at cycle close. The cadence and the channel mix are tuned to the gap you actually have — not a generic content calendar.
Who is the ideal Detroit client — and who is not a fit?
Mid-sized B2B firms, independent consumer brands, and mission-driven nonprofits doing real work in and around Detroit — large enough that winging it is risky, not large enough to staff a department of their own. Think independent professional services, regional consumer brands, civic and cultural institutions, and program-driven nonprofits. Not a fit: brands that want permanent channel management, teams with no gap to close, or anyone whose work sits in paid DSP and programmatic, web development, or SEO-as-a-service. When that is the answer we say so at intake and point you to a peer practice that lives in that work — the same way we would want to be turned away if we were the wrong fit.
What kind of results should we expect, and over what timeline?
A 90-day first cycle is the working window — long enough to put a real workflow in place, short enough to know whether it is taking root. Readouts are tied to revenue, retention, or program outcomes, not vanity metrics. We are honest about what the channel can and cannot move, and we say so plainly in the readout if a cycle is not landing. The success metric at handoff is simple: your team can run the playbook on its own. We will not promise a 10× engagement lift or a fabricated case study — there are no cherry-picked dashboards here, and the only metric that matters at handoff is whether the work stuck without us.
Which of the three engagement shapes — Read, Partner, or Train — is right for us?
Three shapes, not a retainer. The Read is a 30-minute channel audit — one short read on a stalled channel. The Partner is a 90-day first cycle, quarterly thereafter, with monthly readouts and a handoff document at cycle close. The Train is a live, internal training session that leaves your team with the vocabulary and workflow they keep. When the right answer is 'neither — just the Read' or 'go in-house, this is not a fit,' we say so at intake rather than selling you a program you do not need.
What does each engagement cost, and how is the price set?
Pricing is published up front and is the same everywhere it appears on this site. The Read is $149. The Partner first-cycle is $2,400, with quarterly cycles renewing afterward. The Train is $1,200 per attending team, scoped to the size of the room. Every engagement starts with the same short intake, is sized to the gap you actually have, and ends on a documented handoff. There is no surprise scope creep, no 60-page deck to upsell, and no permanent management of a channel you have outgrown.
Who actually does the work — and what happens if you are at capacity?
Founder-led. One principal, one roster of clients, every engagement read end-to-end by the same set of eyes. The firm runs two to three active engagements at a time on purpose, with intake replies inside two business days and the principal on the work — not a delegation chain. When the roster is full, we hold the door closed. We do not stretch to fit a fourth engagement; we refer you to a peer practice or ask you to wait until a slot opens. Honesty about capacity is part of why the work lands when it does.
Which platforms and channels do you cover, and what is out of scope?
In scope: organic content, community management, and paid amplification inside LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, and TikTok — plus email and newsletter programs. Out of scope: paid DSPs and programmatic, web development, and SEO-as-a-service. If your gap sits there, we will say so at intake and point you to a partner who lives in that work — the same way we would want to be turned away if we were the wrong fit.
